Wannabe Money Blogger

My Why

I’ve been blogging for 1 year, and my site went “live” 10 months ago.  I originally started blogging because I wanted to make a change in my life.  I am a teacher and my job is draining.  I’ve learned so much about managing my own and my son’s ADHD I thought I could make a difference for someone.  If even one Mom or Dad uses a strategy they learned about here, I count that as a victory.

Money Blog Fan

Two years ago I started following FIRE bloggers who dictate their own lives and are no longer dependent on a “9 to 5.” They save, invest and pay themselves through different passive streams of income.  They are living the life they truly want to live. They are “free.”

The ADHD Excuse

I want that life.  ADHD has been a great “excuse” as to why I can’t be disciplined enough to invest money rather than spend it.  Perhaps it’s the reason why I’m not ahead financially, or the reason why I’m not as “successful” of a person as I could be (whatever the f that means).  I’ve worked harder, not smarter.  I’ve put my soul out there for everyone to take piece of and therefor I can’t be whole.  Or, can I?

Making a Living AND a Life

The FIRE MOVEMENT sparked something in me.  It made me realize ANYONE can be financially independent.  ANYONE can live the life they’ve dreamed of.  ANYONE can make a living AND and a life.  You just have to know what you value, make a plan with goals that align with your values and FOLLOW THROUGH.

After 2 years of following money bloggers and 1 year of blogging, I’m finally putting FIRE lessons into practice.  Today, I’ve taken the first step to becoming a landlord.  I’m learning how to househack!

The Future is Bright

Next July we plan to rent out our home while RV-ing across the country.  We’ll be homeschooling 3 kids and plan to hit up the major National Parks with our dog by our side.  To say I’m excited about the future would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.

Learning from the Best

I’ve learned value-based minimalism from Mr. Money Mustasche, landlording from Paula Pant (I also won a copy of the updated version: Your Money or Your Life from her IG contest!!!) and life and goal-planning from Ms. Money Montana I am forever grateful to J Money of Budgets are Sexy who led me to Jillian on Montana Money Adventures (AKA my blog mentor and forever #wcw).

Intentional Living

Intentional Living has changed my world. Who would’ve thought I’d be investigating tiny homes?  Will I become a tiny home landlord on my almost 1 acre lot in a pricey suburb?  Maybe (depending on zoning laws and a slew of other considerations).  Purchasing an expensive bungalow in an awesome location has set me up for exactly the intentional life I want to live. And all this time I just thought I was house poor. When you own in a sought after location househacking becomes much easier.

Perspective Shift

ADHD and all, I’m living the life I want to lead.  It’s a crazy, beautiful life and I’m forever thankful for ALL the lessons I’ve learned.  What topics strike your fancy?  In the next few months I’ll be blogging about essential oils, preparing for life on the road, RV shopping, homeschooling, academic coaching, taking a mini-retirement a la Jillian, and probably some teaching stuff too since that will be my job for the 2018-19 school year.  Comment with your interests.  I love the WordPress community and, especially, my ADHD tribe members. 🙌🏻🙌🏻  #onelove #onelife
